Аннотация:The methods used in the nuclear industry for reprocessing liquid radwaste, including salt concentrates from evaporator plants at nuclear power plants, are discussed. The results of a technical-and-economic feasibility study of the three methods used for the processing of salt concentrates are presented: cementing, deep evaporation, and ion-selective purification. It is shown that the ion-selective purification method is the most effective one in comparison with the first two, as it effects significant volume reduction of mid-level class-3 radioactive waste transferred for disposal. Recommendations are made for changing the technology used for management of liquid waste at next-generation nuclear power plants, including separate collection and creation of local schemes for their processing and conditioning.
