Аннотация:Hierarchical and conventional beta zeolites were tested in the acetalization of furfural with ethanol. Application of the synthesized hierarchical material consisting of fused small beta crystallites (20 nm) in the studied reaction leads to the formation of furfural diethyl acetal with the highest yield (77%). The highest catalytic activity of the hierarchical material compared to the conventional ones in terms of the initial reaction rate and TON values is associated with its lower acidity and developed mesoporosity (Vmeso 0.71 cm3/g) facilitating the diffusion of the reagent to and from the active sites.
