Assessment of ecRad radiative scheme of ICON-Ru model in cloudy conditionsтезисы доклада

- Аннотация: A successful short-range forecast of weather conditions is mainly based on the good prediction of the structure of clouds and radiative fluxes at the ground. A joint research of ICON-Ru simulated cloud characteristics and radiative fluxes of the ecRad radiation scheme is shown. ICON-Ru numerical experiments over the European region were carried out using two-moment microphysics, the McICA radiation solver, SOCRATES liquid cloud optics and Fu’ ice cloud optics scheme (Seifert and Beheng, 2006; Hogan and Bozzo, 2016). We used the ICON-Ru realization with a grid spacing of 1.1 km.The analysis of cloud physical characteristics was carried out using observations of the Cloudnet network (https://cloudnet.fmi.fi) at the Lindenberg, Munich and Jülich stations and MODIS measurements of LAADS DAAC system (https://ladsweb.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov). We used radiation observations of the BSRN network (https://bsrn.awi.de) in Lindenberg and CERES data (Kratz et al., 2020) to compare the shortwave and longwave radiative fluxes at the ground. We conducted study for the warm (snowless) period of 2021, for overcast days with good quality observations, excluding precipitation and deep convection cases. Limitations of Cloudnet instruments were also taken into account (Hogan et al., 2006; Gaussiat et al., 2007; Roebeling et al., 2007). We have verified the weather conditions forecast of the joint ICON-Ru-ecRad system.The research was fulfilled at the Lomonosov Moscow State University under the Development Program of the MSU Interdisciplinary Scientific and Educational School “Future Planet and Global Environmental Change” funded by the grant number 075-15-2021-574.
