Аннотация:We investigate acoustical properties of KRS-5 (from German KRS – «Kristalle aus dem Schmelzfluss») cubic crystal which can be used for acousto-optic devices fabrication, operating from visible to far infrared region of optical radiation. We present the results of theoretical analysis and experimental investigation of KRS-5 acoustic properties. The measurements of longitudinal and shear acoustic wave attenuation are presented in this paper. The experiment was carried out using the acoustooptic method of acoustic attenuation measurement. The experiment was fulfilled for the ultrasound frequency that equals f = 100 MHz. The following attenuation coefficients were determined for longitudinal and shear acoustic waves: α L = 0.9 ± 0.1 cm −1 and α S = 2.9 ± 0.1 cm −1
