Аннотация:Anodic processes on three-phase α-Fe + Fe3C + VC composites in borate solutions including
chloride-containing ones are studied. A mechanism of passivation of the composite determined by the formation of mixed oxides based on Fe(II) and V(III, IV) is proposed. The mixed oxides are decomposed in an aerated corrosive environment under the effect of soluble oxidation products of vanadium, which negatively affects the corrosion resistance. The oxidation of VC is found to result in the formation of protective layers composed of VC1–xOx oxycarbides and V2O3 and VO2 oxides.
