Аннотация:A string is considered as one-dimensional continuum. It is known that such a string can serve as a sensor of the base rotation in a mechatronic system that will be named the string gyroscope. Nonlinear differential equations of the string motion are developed. Universally known linear equations of the cross and longitudinal waves propagation can be derived from the nonlinear equations with standard simplifying assumptions. Two-dimensional oscillator with a rigid nonlinearity is shown to be a model of a cross standing wave with one antinode in a string fixed at the ends. It is known that in the case of linear oscillations the middle point of the string generally describes an ellipse with constant dimension and attitude. The influence of the ellipse area on an angular drift of its axes is investigated by the method of averaging. The equations for the angular velocity and for the frequency correction are developed.
