Аннотация:The Kosilovo mire occupies an area of about 0.5 ha on the top of a fluvioglacial sandy hill in the surroundings of the lake Rucheyskoe, ∼35 km north of the town Toropets in the Tver region (56.720731 N,31.551243 E; 200 m above sea level [a.s.l.]). Quaternary deposits of the territory are represented by Valdai moraine hills protruding from under fluvioglacial sands. The climate is temperate continental. The site is located in the zone of mixed coniferous-broadleaved forests with dominance of Picea abies (L.) H.Karst., Pinus sylvestris L., Betula pendula Roth, and admixture of temperate deciduous broadleaf trees and shrubs, such as Quercus robur L., Tilia cordata Mill., Fraxinus excelsior L., Acer platanoides L. Secondary forests consists mainly of birch, pine, aspen (Populus tremula L.) and alder. Corylus avellana L., Sorbus aucuparia L., Frangula alnus Mill. and Prunus padus L. are typical elements of the subcanopy. Wet soils and paludified floodplains are occupied by Alnus incana (L.) Moench, Alnus glutinosa (L.) Gaertn. and Betula pubescens Ehrh. Mire vegetation is formed mainly by Sphagnum spp., Eriophorum vaginatum L., Carex spp. and Ericaceae dwarf shrubs with sparse Pinus and Betula in the canopy layer.
