Аннотация:The crystals of rare-earth gallium borates RGa3(BO3)4, where R = Nd - Er, Y were grown by the flux method. The crystal structures of RGa3(BO3)4 (R = Eu, Ho) have been studied based on single crystal X-ray diffraction data. The hexagonal unit-cell parameters are a = 9.4642(2) Å, c = 7.4653(2)Å and a = 9.4409(5) Å, c = 7.4334(1) Å for EuGa3(BO3)4 and HoGa3(BO3)4, respectively, space group R32. Structure model was determined by “charge flipping” method and refined to R = 4.79% [EuGa3(BO3)4] and R = 4.34% [HoGa3(BO3)4] in anisotropic approximation.
All gallium borates were investigated by infrared spectroscopy technique in a middle and far region. The assignment for the stretching and bending vibrations of BO33- unites and external modes has been made.
The borates EuGa3(BO3)4 and HoGa3(BO3)4 are considered as a basis of crystalline luminescent materials with controlled emission characteristics for wide range of applications.
