Аннотация:Leaf and stem trichomes characteristics of thirty-nine taxa of the of Caroxylon Thunb. are examined by SEM (scanning electron microscopy). Trichomes occur on abaxial part of leaves and stem. All species examined contained short and/or long smooth trichomes, and distinguish density, shape, length, structure and location on leaf and stem. Trichomes have top and bottom. Top is uni- or multicellular, uniseriate, bottom is multicellular. Top part is variable in structure, size and shape within and between species. The main types of trichomes are ribbon and acicular. Some species have intermediated type of trichomes. Each type varies in abundance from completely glabrous, sparse to dense within the Caroxylon. In these cases, trichome types are genus-specific; for example, the all species of Caroxylon distinguish from the species of other sections (exclude Belanthera pro parte section). On the base of these data two new nomenclatural combinations are validated in the genus Caroxylon. All species earlier treated in some infrageneric groups. Segregation of this genus from Salsola, its morphological characters, are briefly discussed. In summary, the structure, density and distribution of leaf, stem and the perianthium trichomes represent good markers for distinguish of Caroxylon species. The determination of phylogenetic and taxonomic levels of indumentums and trichomes characteristics needs comparison phylogeny of Caroxylon. The trichome characteristics allow a specific distinction within the genus Caroxylon.
