Аннотация:The relationship between P300 wave subcomponents in the structure of visual evoked potentials and spatial visual attention remains poorly understood. An experiment using a modifi ed three-stimulus oddball paradigm showed that focusing of overt visual attention had the result that the P300 wave had the properties of the P3b subcomponent – intermediate peak latency and a parietal-occipital localization of sources in the lingual and cingulate gyrus and the precuneus. In covert attention, the resulting subcomponent is similar to the P3a and nP3 subcomponents (frontal localization of sources coupled with increased peak latency). These data can be used to expand our understanding of the relationship between the P300 wave and the visual attention system and to aid the development of neural interface systems using different types of spatial visual attention.
