Аннотация:Twenty-two alloys were synthesized in the La–Ru–Al system using arc-melting of the components followed by annealing in evacuated quartz ampoules at 550 ◦C and subsequent quenching in ice-cooled water. X-ray diffraction and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis showed that at 550 ◦C in the La–Ru–Al system, three new intermetallic compounds are formed in alloys of the composition La43Ru13Al44, La40Ru20Al40, La12Ru17Al71: La3RuAl3, La2RuAl2 and LaRu2Al8, respectively, which coexist with the known ternary and binary compounds from the La–Ru–Al system. The structures of the newly obtained compounds were determined using a combination of single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and powder X-ray diffraction data. The crystal structures of La3RuAl3 and La2RuAl2 share common structural fragments consisting of triangular networks of aluminum atoms and non-planar quadrangular networks formed jointly by aluminum and ruthenium atoms. Lanthanum atoms are located in the spaces between these networks. Differential thermal analysis revealed that La3RuAl3, La2RuAl2 and LaRu2Al8 melt at 782(1) ◦C and 707(1) ◦C, 678(1) ◦C respectively. Based on the combined results of this study, phase equilibria were constructed for the La–Ru–Al system at T =550 ◦C.
