Аннотация:The laws governing deformation changes of the fresh-ice structure, which depends on the loading conditions are determined. New effects including the columnar mechanism of the ice contact fracture and the appearance of circular operating mode cracks were revealed. The fracture toughness as well as the fracture work and the energy spent to produce a crack was also calculated. A plane stamp of a circular cross section was pressed into ice to determine its fracture. Acoustic emission signals and video recording of the cracking process were registered while measuring the stamp and the pressing force. Using the optical method of visualizing original ice structure, initial difficulties associated with the interpretation of the physical sense for the scale factor wee avoided. It was observed that the stability loss of the column produced at the very beginning of pressing, results in the partial fracture of the column and in the appearance of a compression nucleus.
