Аннотация:Generally accepted mechanisms of mass media accountability to the community are represented in Russia rather widely. The Public Board on Complaints About Mass Media (an analogue of councils on mass media issues in European countries), professional codes of ethics, criticizing of media in the printed press and through radio channels, a number of professional journals, online instruments for public control, the establishment of Internet ombudsman, a developed network of higher educational institutions training new professionals in the sphere of journalism, as well as other accountability mechanisms generally comply with the worldwide practices. However the Russian mass media system characterized by researchers as a state-and-commercial hybrid shape media accountability and forms its strong features and weaknesses.
