Аннотация:The “Growth and Morphology of Crystals” course has evolved as a self-consistent curriculum of lectures, seminars, training and research in laboratories at Moscow State University in collaboration with other Universities, research institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences and with the industry during the last two decades. There are three stages of this long-term course: 1) the course of lectures and seminars addressed to students at all levels; 2) the laboratory works to provide practical experience and to make some concepts and techniques more concrete; 3) the research work aimed at the students who intend to major in crystal growth and morphology. This interdisciplinary curriculum brings together various aspects of the latest achievements in the fields of physics, chemistry, experimental and genetic mineralogy and materials science.
It was presented at the 1997 Workshop on Materials Education, the MRS Fall Meeting, December 1-5, 1997, Boston, Massachusetts, USA (Nikolai I.Leonyuk, Teaching Crystal Growth as a Part of Materials Science Program, Fall’97 Abstracts, p. 734), and published in the Journal of Materials Education (v. 20, № 1/2, 1998, pp. 243-252).
