In September 2017 a group of scientists, students and engineers from Geological and Geographic Faculties of MSU had performed fieldwork as a SAMCoT activity in WP 6 field site in Baydara Bay. The scope for the field work was sampling coastal permafrost, measuring thermal regime and thermal properties of grounds, wide range of geophysical surveys of the cofferdam construction area and areas with natural conditions, the measurement of coastal erosion rate, research of biogenic gas emission from the permafrost due to thawing, geocryological mapping using drones, field description of cryological features and processes. MSU researchers visited the site in first time in 2012 as a start of the WP6 SAMCoT project on Baydara. 2012’s field data and information from early publications with geocryological description of the site are used as a reference data to describe changes over the years. This report presents field data from 2017 expedition, comparison of 2017 field data with results obtained in 2013-2016, data from MSU frozen ground laboratory, analyses of geophysical data from cofferdam area, data of gas emission experiments. In 2017 due to collaboration with Geographic faculty we have increased the research coastal area by the professor Ogorodov’s group data and by the temperature data of Zubov State Oceanography Institute parametric boreholes.
