MSCs (mesenchymal stem cells) play an important role in the progression of cancer, metastasis, affect the "state of rest" of cancer cells, etc. MSCs(mesenchymal stem cells) play an important role in the progression of cancer, metastasis, affect the "dormant state" of cancer cells, etc. It has been shown that MSCs are able to migrate to the area of inflammation, where they contribute to the development of stromal tissue surrounding the tumor and stimulate tumor angiogenesis. One of the most promising areas in the study of cancer is 3D tumor modeling, with the joint cultivation (cocultivation) of various types of cells (stem, immune cells, fibroblasts, etc.) that are involved in cancer progression, metastasis, angiogenesis and other processes. The objective of our study was to develop a hybrid 3D model of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) using the co-culture of HEp-2 cells (laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma) and rat MSCs and various techniques of cell spheroid formation: 1) the low attachment method using nonadhesive surface, and 2) the hanging drop method.
