The development of the chemistry of fluorescent detectors is important for a quick search for efficient, selective and enough simple compounds able to recognize metal cations, and in the case of the presence of chiral elements ion their structure, to serve as enantioselective detectors of chiral organic analytes. Previously, we have shown that the derivatives of 3,3’-disubstittued biphenyl and 2,7-disubstituted naphthalene can act as fluorescent enantioselective sensors, however, their efficiency was found to be quite moderate. In the present investigation, we have synthesized a series of quinoline derivatives possessing chiral substituents at various positions of the heteroaromatic structure. The spectral studies of thus substituted quinolines in the prersence of metal cataions and model chiral amino alcohols demonstrate strong dependence of their sensing abilities on the structure.
