Новая русистика is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal which publishes articles from the field of philology and Russian area studies. The role of the journal is to develop and cultivate Russian philological and area research and to create space for the presentation of new findings and methodological thinking.
The journal is headed by an executive editorial board, an editorial circle comprising Russianists from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Germany and Belarus. The journal has four sections: Studies, Marginalia, Reviews and Informatory. The first is published in Russian with English abstracts (and in substantiated cases, Czech or Slovak abstracts), and the others in Russian and other Slavic and world languages. The studies undergo a review procedure, carried out at the request of the executive editorial board by a group of lecturers comprising Czech and foreign Russianists.
1) Новая русистика is an international journal which is based on traditions of European thinking about language and literature on the basis of morphological and structural approaches as well as various poststructuralist, communicative, receptionist and anthropological concepts and procedures.
2) Новая русистика maintains close ties with philological and other humanities and social sciences with the scope of area philology.
3) Новая русистика cultivates discussion on methodological issues of modern linguistics and literary science, particularly in the field of Russian studies.
4) Новая русистика opens research horizons and clarifies topics of Russian area studies in a broader concept.
5) Новая русистика is open to Russianists of various methodological orientations, but mainly develops an initial area direction offering synthesis of philological and area procedures.
6) Новая русистика supports international cooperation of Russianists in relation to Czech, Slovak and other institutions in the sense of organisation of workshops, seminars and international conferences, symposia and programmes on issues of Russian studies and their individual disciplines.
7) Новая русистика makes an effort to inspire the development of linguistic and literary science disciplines in general, and Russianist in particular, based on the Czech tradition of comparative and confrontational language and literary research with regard to the typified (generic) nature of literature.
8) Новая русистика does not avoid the methodology of teaching Russian and Russian literature at a scientific level in connection with the development of linguistics and literary science.
9) Новая русистика is not a generational but intergenerational, not a group but an open journal, whose task is, among other things, to interconnect the activities of younger and older generations of Russianists with varying opinions and methodological foundations, and thus to make an effort to ensure the developmental continuity of the discipline in a non-ethical and value sense.
10) Новая русистика endeavours to strengthen the social position of Russianism in an international, European, Central-European and Czech-Slovak context, and makes an effort to study the ethno-psycho-socio processes beyond philological area Russian studies, e.g. the problems of the cultural integration of Russian speaking immigrants, or Eastern Slavs in general, in Central Europe, as well as mutual relations between Central Europe and Russia.
