Аннотация:Examined the phenomenon of productivity in solving divergent problems (DPs). Three experiments were conducted, in which samples of 120 children (aged 4–7 yrs), 20 adults, and 16 children (aged 6–7.4 yrs) completed picture construction tasks. Results led to the following conclusions: (1) the solution of DPs by adult Ss may, in certain conditions, serve as the ideal model toward which preschoolers can be led; (2) under the right conditions, preschoolers can be productive in solving DPs; (3) reconstituting the phenomenon of "productivity" under experimental conditions permits comprehensive study of this phenomenon; and (4) preschoolers performing divergent tasks in a formative experiment may be divided into 2 groups in terms of type of solutions: Ss who stick to popular methods and Ss who show flexibility in methods.
